Filters
Where would we be without filters! Filters are one of those hidden things without which nothing would work. Nearly everything is filtered, like gas, hydraulic fluid, water, oil, and that's only in a car. We were making a banner for a website, so the goal was to be about filters, but also to be a little dramatic to catch your eye.
There are thousands of industrial filters that filter a wide assortment of gas and liquid. We were trying to make an interesting photograph to capture the attention of readers. I like stepping outside the bounds of a standard product shot. This hi-key photograph of filter media was one of the solutions that day.
There is a misguided belief that photography for web should be less expensive. This might be the case if photographers charged by the pixel. The value of an image is not determined by it’s resolution. The value of a photograph is determined by it’s ability to tell a story, communicate an idea, and grab your attention. People often associate industrial product photography with slap-dash, down and dirty photography; but it doesn’t have to be. In this project, we needed a few pictures for banners for the client’s home page. The purpose of these photographs is to draw in potential customers with visually compelling imagery. Dynamic photography also helps separate you from your competitors. As always, I’m interested in your thoughts.
